The dismount is banned since the FIG (Federation Internationale de Gymnastique) considers that any dismount requires standing or sitting on the high bar "too dangerous".

You can still see gymnasts do this in lower level optional competitions. Banned or not, the real reason, you'll never see it in elite competitions is because it's too easy and wouldn't give them any credit.
ReplyDeleteThe second dismount isn't even banned. Just because old skills aren't in the code anymore doesn't mean they're banned.
